Community HousingWorks’ HomeOwnership Center provides education and couseling services in conjunction with creative financial and lending solutions to make the American Dream of HomeOwnership a possibility. As a certified Community Development Financial Institution, or CDFI, our HomeOwnership Center is the only non-profit, non-governmental lender in San Diego county and we leverage a loan pool of over $10 million. The HomeOwnership Center also administers two neighborhood revitalization programs called FaceLift and Project Clean, which have mobilized thousands of volunteers, removed hundreds of tons of debris, and painted nearly 500 homes. Each year, we make it possible for tens of millions of dollars to be invested back into our communities, strengthening families and changing lives. Community HousingWorks is a member of the National Council of La Raza and the national NeighborWorks Network, putting 150 families on the road to homeownership every day. Our HomeOwnership Center serves the entire County of San Diego and can work with any financial or loan program, property type, real estate professional, or city to make homeownership possible.

Community HousingWorks offers counseling services expressly for the purpose of helping homeowners who are struggling to meet their current mortgage debt obligations. The Foreclosure Intervention Center addresses the needs of these borrowers with a comprehensive line of counseling services, referrals to additional services, and educational workshops designed specifically to help prevent a foreclosure on their home. Homeowners seeking counseling will receive one-on-one help resulting in an action plan that may include one of many referrals to outside service providers for pre-bankruptcy counseling, tax assistance, legal remedies, and financial assistance programs. If the action plan calls for a loan modification or forbearance, our Loss Mitigation Specialists will act as a non-profit advocate to assist the borrower in modifying their existing mortgage. All services of the Foreclosure Intervention Center are FREE to homeowners, with the exception of the costs related to a credit report, in house copies, and/or a Distressed Neighborhood Report (AVM).
